Freshwater Aquarium Lighting

The lighting system is probably the most important component of the freshwater aquarium. It is also the most difficult to choose. After deciding between T5, LED, power compact, metal halide or VHO, the color temperature (K) of the lamps must still be chosen. Light energy feeds the aquatic plants. All this can only be accomplished by applying the precise lighting conditions of the plants natural environment.
